_British MK1 "Brodie" Helmet - issued to Lord Strathcona's Horse regiment of the Canadian Expeditionary Force (L.S.H. stenciled on both sides)
This particular helmet is engraved with the initials RLW - only one man served in the Strathcona throughout the war with those initials: Richard Lorrie Whatnell. Richard signed up with the C.E.F. in December of 1914 and was later assigned to the Strathcona in 1917. Based upon his service records, obtained from the Canadian Archives, it is likely that this helmet saw action at Moreuil Wood in March of 1918.
This helmet still retains its original chinstrap and liner. The liner has the original red ink Brodie manufacturing stamp.
