Krankenträger Pouch
This pouch was worn by German stretcher bearers during the Great War. It is marked "K" on the reverse side of the lid, indicating use for Krankenträgers. It is also marked "R" on the metal loop attachment, indicating it is the pouch to be worn on the right side of the belt. The pouch is makers marked "Bach & Riedel, Berlin" on the reverse side at the top where the pouch opens. It is also dated 1915 on the underside of each bottom belt loop. The content label is intact, but difficult to read. However, the correct contents are visible:

Marked 'S' on lid for Sanitäter. Marked 'R' on box for right side. Original items include content label, hardboard divider, cloth straps and bottle of ätherische baldriantinktur with cork. Maker marked and dated 'L. Estelmann, Strassburg, 1917'.

_Medic Canteen
This canteen is complete with its original steel cup, simplified leather harness and ersatz cloth strap. The canteen and cup are both maker marked and dated "G. Gnüchtel 17", a manufacturer of canteens from Lauter, Saxony. As water was vital, especially for medical personnel, these canteens had a larger capacity than the standard issue model. They could be worn on the belt or over the shoulder.
